Meetings

  • ​100 Women Who Care, Troy, is open to ALL women. The more women we gather, the greater the impact within our community. Guests are welcome but may not vote.
  • Each member must commit to donating $100 per quarterly ($400 per year).  
  • Donations are intended for Troy/Southeast Michigan non-profit organizations serving our local communities. National charities will not be considered. The charity must have a 501(c)3 designation. The purpose is for the contribution to stay 100% within the community. 
    • Definition of 501(c)3: “exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposes, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, promote the arts, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals”
  • To be eligible to nominate a charity, member shall:
    • Be an active member and current with all donations.
    • Attend at least one meeting prior to nominating a charity.
    • Arrive early to check in and fill out nomination form.
    • Provide verification the charity is a 501(c)3 from the IRS website at least one week prior to the meeting. Search via the IRS site. Send information from IRS site to 100womenwhocaretroy@gmail.com.
    • Be prepared to provide a 5 minute presentation to members and answer questions. The member may not designate the presentation to an outside party.
    • Presentation shall be verbal only. No slideshows, videos,  handouts, etc. are permitted.
    • Review the Presentation Guidelines Document.
  • Maximum of three charity nominations will be randomly drawn at the meeting. 
  • The presenters will have five (5) minutes maximum to present their charity, followed by a five (5) minute maximum question and answer period with the members present. 
  • Voting:
    • Only Members who are current in their contributions are eligible to vote at meetings. 
    • Members must be present to vote.
    • Each Member in attendance will vote by ballot – the majority rules.  Even if your choice does not win, all Members are responsible for writing a check to the winning charity.
    • In the case of a two-way tie the membership will be provided with the names of the two charities and a second vote will be taken.  If the second vote results in another tie then the we will randomly pick one of the two charities name out of a hat.  In the case of a three-way tie we will randomly pick one of the three names out of a hat.
  • If a Member makes a presentation and the nomination is not chosen, the Member may re-submit their charity at succeeding meetings. Members may submit nominations for various charities.
  • Organizations selected are not eligible for consideration for two years from the date of the meeting. 
  • Member Donations:
    • Members will be notified within 48 hours of the winning charity.
    • Donations shall be made within two weeks of the notification.
    • Employer gift matching is encouraged.

  • Winning organization must agree to the terms in the Charity Requirement Form document. 
  • Grapevine may request a W-9 Form from the charity. The charity may choose whether to provide the document or not. This is optional. The W-9 Form can be found in the Forms section of this website.
  • Best Buy Matching Grants provide an opportunity to increase our donation by providing matching grants for 50% of total dollars raised per meeting (up to a $5,000 match).  See Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation for more information.
